When is a Kyosho not a Kyosho?

By Fabrizio Panico

I would like to correct my previous news about the Audi R8 V10 plus (see March 2016) http://www.maronline.org.uk/audi-promotional-118-scale-r8-v10-plus-coupe-2015.

When I bought the model there were no indications at all about the maker, only the usual Audi ones. A bit of enquiries led me to understand it was produced by Kyosho. My fault! It seems that it was produced by Kyosho Deutschland GmbH (european distributor of brands such as Kyosho, Hitec etc) not by the Kyosho Corporation, and it is an iScale model.

According to what you can read on the iScale web site (www.iscale.eu/en). “In the year 2012 a branch office in Aachen was established concentrating on diecast miniature models only, and the brand “iScale” was founded. Under this name countless miniature-models were developed and manufactured for the German car industry. As these models have been produced without indication of our brand or logo often and are distributed via the official sales-channels of the car industry only, many collectors may own “iScale” models without knowing”.

Now I must check many of my promo models to understand which kind of “Kyosho” they are !!
